So, a friend of mine was in town for the weekend and invited us to go to a restaurant with them for dinner. We met at 7, and I was hoping for the best in terms of behavior, but I know better.....she's just way too active of a baby to just sit in a carseat for more than 20 minutes. As the evening progressed, she started out happy in the seat, got upset so I gave her a bottle, happy again, then got fussy b/c she wanted out. So, I got her out & she was having fun for a while. But as it got closer & closer to bedtime, we were treading on dangerous ground. Right about the time the food was served, she began crying (quite loudly). I tried a few things to quiet her down with no success. Getting flustered, I know I need to go so we don't upset everyone else in the restaurants evening. So, I put her back in her carseat....and what do you know, she chills out (momentarily anyways). My friend says sit down and finish your food while she's quiet. That lasted about 2 minutes. I already had everything packed up (or so I thought) from the last outburst, so we just headed out the door. She immediately fell asleep in the car.....whew!!! I get home and get her out only to realize.......I never buckled her in the carseat :( Thank you God for watching over us and not having an accident while she was unbuckled. Apparently in my fluster, when she quieted down, I didn't buckle her in since she got quiet. UGH.....I felt awful. Need to be more careful........I am so thankful to have her home safely. Sorry Mackenzie!!! I will try hard not to do that again :( :( :( Bad mommy.......

I've never had that particular "bad mommy" moment, but I've had a few of my own. I know that gut-twisting feeling of "what if." But Someone was watching out for you!
I must admit I have done this myself and said a little prayer too. The travel systems seem to aid the carseat as a chair at time and you think they are buckled in. Don't worry I have also had friends confess to the same "bad mommy" moment. Thank the angels above.
