"This Spoon Thing.....

is for the birds!" says Mackenzie! We made our first attempt at spoon feeding rice cereal last night! Mackenzie was not a big fan. In fact, she cried just about the entire time.....and she looked at me like she thought I was trying to poison her or something. I had to put her pacifier in after each bit to calm her down! At least while sucking on the paci, she inadvertently swallowed some cereal I think!! I was hoping she'd take to the food quickly to help put some meat on her bones. Well, maybe not! We'll keep trying! Until then, I don't think the 5 bites (maybe?) that she ate last night are going to help pack on any pounds. Here's the pictures from the fun!

The doctors say to start solids between 4 and 6 months but started feeding Maya cereal at 4 months to get some meat on her bones too. Ava didn't have that problem but we started her at 4 months too because it takes so long for them to learn to eat off a spoon. By the time Ava and Maya were 6 months, they were eating like champs. Keep poking it in and she'll swallow eventually. Before you know it, you won't be able feed her fast enough :)

Ansley did the same thing the first time I tried to feed her...she is soooo much better now. She is now eating off a spoon in the morning and the afternoon like a champ. In fact, in a few weeks we are going to try Stage 1 Foods...the MD said to go ahead, can you believe it!!??

This was how M.P. reacted the first time as well. I let it drop for a few weeks and tried again with some better tasting stuff (sweet potato and bananas). It went better. Now she can eat a whole one of those tiny jars. It's a fun process - their facial expressions are priceless!
