Feeling the Sand Between our Toes!

On Wednesday morning, with Poppee now in town to help, we ventured down (mind you it was only down a boardwalk....but we had to carry so much stuff!) to the beach before the heat got too unbearable since it was SO HOT at the beach last week! Surprisingly though, the water was still cool. Sometimes when the weather is so hot, the ocean is warmer and feels like your getting into a bath - not exactly refreshing when you're dealing with almost 100 degree weather! But I digress.....

Mackenzie got her first experience putting her feet in the sand & water - and not too surprisingly for our active adventurous girl.....she was mesmerized. She didn't smile a whole lot, but she was studying the ocean & the water around her feet. If you picked her up, she whined to get back down and feel the water between her toes again! After playing in the water while we held her up standing for a while, we let her sit in the sand and she started examining the sand. Then, like most babies, the sand quickly found its way into her mouth! I wasn't expecting it so she got some in! I thought the gross taste would discourage further eating of the sand, but that hand kept trying to get more in.....however, by then I was onto her & she couldn't get me to let her do it again! All in all, a successful first expedition into the water & she was WORN OUT! She slept like 2.5 hours after that for her morning nap! Mommy enjoyed that part :)

First time feeling the ocean! She kept trying to "step" up onto the waves as they came toward her! HA!!
