The Weekend From.....Well, You Know Where!

So, my last post displays the calm before the storm that invaded our house this weekend.  Just a few short hours after playing with her buddies......Mackenzie got S.I.C.K.  I lost count, but she vomited at least 20 times within 5-6 hours.  She couldn't go more than 20-30 minutes without throwing up.  We were about 15 minutes from an ER trip since she couldn't keep ANY fluids down.  I talked with the nurses twice and then they paged the doctor on call (which happened to be our doctor!).  But in those last minutes when the doctor called me back, Mackenzie had fallen fast asleep for 45 minutes.  While talking to the doctor, she slept another 10-15 minutes, so she said to rouse her every hour or so and try to get her to take fluids to stay ahead of the dehydration & if she proceeded to vomit, then head to the ER.  She took some fluids - in fact at one point she wanted to guzzle on her sippy cup (they recommend no more than a teaspoon at a time) but when I took it from her little dehydrated self, she screamed.  She was THIRSTY!  I let her have a bit more and endured her screaming & got her back to sleep.  She kept it down & a few more rounds as well.  In the clear.  Off to bed (at 3:00 for me!).

Saturday morning she woke up like a new woman.  Playing, happy, eating pretty well, drinking 8 oz quickly, we were on the mend.  After watching football and having a good Saturday, she started not eating so well at lunch & dinner.  I managed to get her to eat some applesauce at dinner & she vomited it back up about an hour later.  Great.  Another round?  Well, I went ahead and bathed her.  Upon standing up to get wrapped in a towel, she turned away from me and slipped.  I was freaked out.  Called the nurses again, but she passed all their questions with flying colors.  They recommended rousing her every few hours during the night to be safe, but she was fine.

Fast forward to 3 am, and Daddy gets the bug.  He threw up all morning & she has been very tired, clingy & not eating/drinking much at all.   Guess she still has some nausea.  I'm ready for this weekend to be one for the books.  And I'm just praying that God will continue to keep me healthy to take care of these two sickies.

To lighten up this gloomy post, here's a few fun photos from the calm before the storm.  Mackenzie is able to get on her riding lion toy now and push it with her feet.  She's getting so smart & big!  You might even be able to glimpse those pearly white front teeth starting to show their pearliness!
