Sweet Pototoes!!

Mackenzie had been doing a little better with the rice cereal toward the end of last week, so I started thinking about introducing a new food to her this week. Plus I wanted to try and see how well she ate other foods before her 6 month appointment.....which given the short month of February, that is only a little over a week away! So, we started with the sweet potatoes tonight. And I have to say, she LOVED it! It was SOOOO much better than the rice cereal reaction! Normally, with the cereal, I have to give her a bite (which comes out and I keep scooping it back in til most of it stays!). Then, take a break, let her play with her toy, then give her another bite or two. And so on & so forth. Needless to say it took quite a while to get 1-2 tablespoons of cereal into her tummy! I figured she's just not the into eating.....much more into toys. Well, it turns out she's just not into the cereal! I gave her a few bites of the sweet potatoes.....and some still got pushed out by the tongue, but not nearly as much. Then, my phone rang. I took a break, gave her a toy and answered it. She started SCREAMING!! She wanted to keep eating!!!! Excuse me?? That had never happened. She could take or leave the cereal at any point. Apparently, she's much more of a fan of the sweet potatoes. Ate almost the whole little gerber stage 1 container. Maybe she'll gain some weight after all!!! And then she ended the meal by chewing on her bib (trying to get the last of the sweet potatoes off the bib, maybe?!?!)

YEAH!! I am so glad she likes the "real" foods!! We have had sweet potatoes, sweet peas, bananas, pears, apples and now peaches...I haven't found anything she doesn't love yet!! Mackenzie is going to gain a lot of weight now!!!

That must be the universal baby food. Both girls loved them. Ava refused to eat cereal after she got a taste of sweet potatoes.

Be careful with orange veggies! It is all my nephews would eat and they both turned (temporarily) orange!! I was so careful to make sure Michael got a lot of green peas and green beans because I didn't want an orange tinted baby!!
