You Might Have a Picky Eater.....

You might have a picky eater if....
your child eats one or two chocolate yogurt covered raisins before realizing she can suck the chocolate off and hand you back the raisin!

You might have a picky eater if.....
you find yourself praying your toddler won't grow tired of mac & cheese.

You might have a picky eater if.....
you put jelly on her PB sandwich to get her to eat a sandwich again after refusing for a while, only to have your child give jelly one taste & refuse that too.

You might have a picky eater if....
you think your child eats like a bird, but find out she'll pig out on the "right" foods (AKA pizza, mac & cheese, spaghetti & meatballs)

You might have a picky eater if.....
no matter how hungry you think your child should be, they never seem to reach the point where they will eat an unapproved item.

I'm not really too stressed about it, but Mackenzie is definitely showing her opinions about her food. I had always imagined myself as one of those moms who is not a short order cook (meaning they eat what you serve them & don't fix them something just for them). But, so far, she just won't eat if she doesn't want it. So, I don't like her to go hungry, so I feed her some stuff she'll eat with every meal. Maybe when she's older and we can reason with her better. But for now, no matter how many times I try "take a bite of XXX and you can have this cookie", she still refuses XXX. A friend of mine who's child had been to an occupational therapist for various things, said that the therapist said in the food category that the saying "when they're hungry enough, they'll eat", just isn't true for all children. And right now, not sure that it is true for mine.

Hey - thanks for your e-mail. I haven't had a chance to reply yet.

MP has a pretty small repertoire of food as well. But I have gotten her to eat things by telling her she can't get out of her highchair until she eats one X.

Weirdly she refuses mac and cheese. What child refuses to eat mac and cheese?

Haven't tried peanut butter yet because we were trying to wait until she's 2. I'm re-thinking that.

Funny blog =) If it makes you feel better, I don't so much have a picky eater (not more than any normal child) but he is anal to the core about the clothes he wears!!! It is BIZARRE ... and I am not exaggerating!! I guess every kid has their quirks! Good luck =) A girlfriend of mine had a really cool cookbook that helped you "sneak" in veggies to their diet. I will email her and get the name of it and forward to you!! xoxoxo
