Halloween Preview

This morning, Mackenzie & I joined some of our MOPs (our moms group.... stands for Mothers of Preschoolers) at a local retirement home to do a Halloween parade for the residents. We're trying to include service as part of what we do in our MOPs group - not just serving our moms, but others in the community too, which I love. Anyways, it gave us an opportunity to try out our costume before the big day!

Mackenzie is going to be a bumblebee (or yellow
jacket.....for GT fans!). Her costume didn't come with antennae (not to mention, she wouldn't stand to wear a headband!), so I used my somewhat crafty side and created some little antennae with some craft foam balls painted glittery black & pipe cleaners. Then, I put her hair in pigtails and wound the pipe cleaners around the rubber band. It actually worked pretty well, and she left it in her hair for a decent amount of time. Good trial run. I think we are ready for Saturday. I also learned that the wings on her costume won't work in a carseat, so for traveling purposes, she has to drive in her black onesie & tights! Too cute!!! Made me look forward to dance & gymnastics classes in the future in a leotard & tights :)
