Another Big Sister To Be

Yesterday, Mackenzie's little friend, Sophia, had her 2nd birthday party. The neat thing about this party was that Sophia's mommy is also expecting #2, just a few weeks after ours. So, they will both become big sisters this fall. Their family was surprised with #1, and didn't find out that Sophia was a girl, but this time, they decided to do a gender reveal at the birthday party. It was just a small gathering of mostly their family & then Mackenzie & Mady Kay (& mommies) came too.

The gender reveal worked like this - they had the ultrasound tech write down the gender in an envelope about a month ago when they went for the 20 week appointment. They took the envelope to the Publix bakery and explained to them that they wanted them to look in the envelope & if it was a girl, make the icing inside pink & if a boy, make it blue. Then, Sophia was going to cut into the cake/smash the cake to reveal the sex. Sophia was a little hesitant, but eventually put the knife into the cake - which came out blue! It's a BOY! It was so fun to see Alicia's reaction (she thought it was a girl, so she was shocked!! Happy, but shocked!!). And it was so cool to be there for that moment :) What a fun way to find out!
