First Trip to the Doctor

On Monday, we packed up and headed to the doctor for Mackenzie's first checkup. We did surprisingly well getting ourselves out the door on time (almost!). She did very well at her first checkup, despite the fact that we had to wait forever to be seen....not crying really at all through the various pokes and prods they do at the doctor's office! She did not weigh very much still, that was our one issue. She was 6 lbs 15 oz at birth, and dropped to 6 lbs 9 oz at discharge from the hospital - which is normal. However, two days later at the doctor's appointment, she still had not started gaining and weighed in at only 6 lbs 9 oz. This was probably due to the fact that we were still struggling with the breastfeeding & latching on. The doctor wanted to see us again in a week to make sure she was starting to gain weight by then. It made me a little nervous, especially since we were trying to breastfeed, but didn't want her to drop too low in our effort. And at the same time, I didn't want to give up too soon and go straight to formula when I believed it would eventually work (which it did).
